Grisel Rodriguez is the principal of P.S.82Q-The Hammond School, a N.Y.C., public elementary school located in Jamaica, Queens. During her leadership, which began in 2015, Grisel became part of Principal Leadership Consortium, which is comprised of 50 principals throughout the NYC DOE, working together to explore the beliefs, systems and structures that support building sustainable inclusive school communities, and who share instructional practices that foster high expectations for all. Grisel began her career in education as a para-professional under the leadership of the Bilingual Pupil Service program, while also studying to become a teacher. Grisel advanced within her career, in Brooklyn, as a staff developer, supporting teacher pedagogy and content knowledge in the area of mathematics. Five years later, Grisel gained the title of Assistant Principal of the elementary school that she attended as a child. Within four years, Grisel, left Brooklyn to become a Principal. Currently, Rodriguez leads a cohort of principals who focus on using data analysis to inform instructional planning through cycles of learning.
