Cahn Fellow 2018
Principal, Collins Elementary School
Riverview, Florida
Rebecca Sargable began her career with Hillsborough County Public Schools as a teacher after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Florida in 1995. As a National Board Certified Teacher, she spent thirteen years as a kindergarten teacher. Her desire to make a difference and impact more students led her back to USF where she obtained her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership in 2007. In 2008, Rebecca was appointed as assistant principal at Roosevelt Elementary. In 2012, Sargable was named principal of Lanier Elementary. In 2015, she was appointed as principal of Collins Elementary. As a transformational leader, Sargable makes all decisions through the lens of student learning. She integrates building the empathetic and inclusive child with core instruction on a daily basis. The students that attend the schools that she has led are true learners, not only in content but in character.
