Crystal Bonds was appointed in 2011 as principal of the High School for Math Science and Engineering (HSMSE) at the City College of New York, and Master Principal for the Academy of Social Action in 2015. US New and World Report recognized HSMSE as one of the top high schools in the nation (#26) and ranked HSMSE among the top high schools in New York City (#3) and New York State (#3). HSMSE has Crystal’s vision to educate the whole child; academically, socially and emotionally. In addition to increasing student achievement and serving the social and emotional needs of her students, she strives to expose her precocious youth to more opportunities strengthening the school to workforce pipeline. Crystal is the founder and president of the CLASS Coalition (Coalition for Leaders of Advanced Student Success). She also serves on many other boards, advisories, and task forces in the educational and STEM fields.
