Antonio Acevedo was raised in Chicago and attended the University of Notre Dame to obtain his Bachelor’s degree. He began his teaching career as a bilingual teacher in a neighborhood elementary Chicago Public School (CPS) and obtained his Masters of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University in Administration and Supervision.

Antonio began his career as an administrator as a Bilingual Facilitator. Then after working as an assistant principal at Ames Middle School, he opened a new CPS elementary school, Talman Elementary School. After several years as principal he worked at the CPS central office in two roles, including Deputy Officer for the Office of Language and Cultural Education.

Currently, Antonio is principal at Whittier Elementary School, a Dual Language School. He earned his Doctorate of Education in Administration and Supervision from Loyola University Chicago and raised the school’s rating to 1+ from probation status.
