Erika Hurtado-Valentino is a graduate of Columbia University’s Summer Principals Academy and has spent her entire educational career in the New York City Department of Education. Her academic accomplishments also include a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from Stony Brook University and a Master of Arts in Mathematics Secondary Ed. from Adelphi University. She is currently enrolled at St. John’s University and is pursuing a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership. Erika has been in leadership roles for the past ten years, combining her commitment to service and youth development with a dedication to problem solving, teamwork, and academic achievement for all. Erika is the Principal of Bronx Aerospace High School, where she started an Aerospace Engineering CTE Program. In the role of Principal, she brings to her community a vision formed by her professional and academic experience in educational administration that supports the analysis and use of data to address students' needs and close achievement gaps. She brings to the table the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a high level of energy, determination, and perseverance to act as an agent of change in a demanding organization. Erika is also a Principal Facilitator Coach for the Assistant Principal Leadership Institute (APLI), where she coaches aspiring Principals.
