Leander Eric Windley has been Principal of IS 318 since 2012. His school community has a shared vision for creating an environment where all learners will benefit from school wide instructional and enrichment programs that will advance their critical thinking skills, enhance their problem solving abilities, and compliment their middle school experience. The schools mission is to develop the students socially, prepare them academically and support them emotionally to be college and career ready. Since 1995, Eric has worked at I.S. 318 in the following roles; Assistant Principal 2004 – 2012, Crisis Intervention Teacher, Dean 1999 – 2004 and Math Teacher 1995 – 2003. He earned advanced degrees and an administrative degree from Long Island University. During his tenure at the school, Eric has introduced programs such as Robotics, Physics and Engineering which has fostered student interest in STEAM related fields.
